Tea Cup Wreath

I love old china. Just thinking of the hands that have cradled it, the tables that it’s set, the milestones that it’s celebrated, who's wedding registry it was on years and years ago. So when I see it sitting chipped and abandoned with a $1.00 price tag, it’s hard to walk past. This wreath takes those some of those pieces of our past and gives them new life and a new purpose.

MATERIALSPlywood round - aprox. 16” diameter1 Plate13-ish TeacupsGlue gunE6000 glue (or similar)White paint

STEPS

Pour a bit of white paint into a disposable cup or bowl and add some water to make a whitewash. Paint onto the round, making sure to get the edges.

Use E6000 to glue the plate to the center of the round.

While that’s setting up, get your cups and lay them on their side so they sit on the wood with the handle resting on the plate. Figure out which cups look best next to which others. If you’ve got some plain cups, you may want to mix them in with the more ornate ones. Take a look at how much space you need between each cup to make it around the circle and figure out which cups' curves make them a better partner with which other cups. Once you’re happy with the placement, take them all off and set them in order and start gluing!

Use hot glue to attach the first cup to the board. Before the hot glue completely sets, lift up the handle slightly and add E6000 to where the handle touches the plate and place it back down. For extra security, add a few drops of E6000 where the cup attaches to the wood as well.

Let all the glue dry completely, add hanging hardware to the back, pour a nice hot cuppa and enjoy.
