Gold Framed Objet

Wall art is always a tricky proposition.  If money were not object we'd surround ourselves with original museum quality work....uh, yeah, that's not happening. As an alternative we often opt for something store bought, not original at all and still not easy on the wallet.  Here's an option that gives you custom art that can really be tailored to your passions and cost hardly anything at all.

Spray paint your objects gold.  Any objects will do really.  You do want to keep them in odd numbers, as this classically will be easier on the eye.  (Your eye searches for the center of things, with an odd number your eye will rest on an object, not on empty space, making it more soothing.)

Take your picture matt and place it inside the shadow box, but instead of it's usual position on the backing, place it up against the glass.  You may need to trim it ever so slightly so it will fit.  Once in place secure it on the back of the matt with a drop of hot glue in the corners.  Note - on the BACK, so you won't see the glue through the glass.

If the backing of your shadow box frame isn't white, cut a piece of felt to fit and attach it to the back of the frame with spray glue.

Arrange your pieces on the felt and attach with hot glue.  It's key to line up your pieces to create even lines with even spacing, this helps create an art gallery feel.

Place the back carefully into the frame and you're done!  Note: make sure your glue is dry before assembling or you'll end up with one loose feather like I did the in the picture above. :-/

These look really great as single pieces, they make great really personal gifts, but I think the real magic comes when you create an entire wall of them.  Original artwork at a sane price!
