With Thanksgiving around the corner and lot of pumpkins leftover from Halloween, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to put together something a little more special than the standard harvest wreath.  All you need in addition to the pumpkins are a few gourds, fall leaves and berries, a piece of burlap and any old wheelbarrow, wagon or cart (the kids' Radio Flyer wagon in the garage is calling your name!).

Start by writing your message on a couple of pumpkins.  You can print out the message in the font you want and then use good old fashioned carbon paper to transfer it to the pumpkin.  Once you've done that just trace over the carbon marks with a permanent marker or paint pen.  (I used the former.)  Or, if you're feeling brave, just freehand it right onto the pumpkin.

If your wagon or wheel barrow is extra deep, lay a bag of soil or fill up the bottom with wood chips or packing peanuts so you won't have to fill the entire thing with pumpkins. Next, set up some levels.  I used two gallon cans of paint for my two message pumpkins and then a quart can and a small block of wood.

Add a small and large pumpkin, resting them on the other can and block.

Add fall branches in an S formation to wind between the pumpkins.

Add gourds, flowers and pinecones to fill in the gaps.

Soften the edges and add another texture by adding two branches of berries on either side and you're done!
